Create your best future and join Data, Digital and AI as a Data and AI Practice - Community & Engagement Lead.

What’s the role?

We're looking for a Community & Engagement Lead to build the identity, connection and engagement of the Data & AI profession at Westpac.
In this role, you will create a connected practitioner community that people are proud to belong to, strengthening collaboration, capability growth, knowledge sharing and professional identity across Data, Analytics, AI and Data Delivery disciplines.
You will lead the Practice's engagement strategy, community operating model, communications and practitioner experience, ensuring Data & AI professionals feel connected to a broader profession and shared purpose, regardless of where they sit within the organisation.
Success in this role will be measured not by communications delivered or events held, but by the strength of the practitioner community, workforce engagement, participation, collaboration and capability outcomes across the Data & AI profession.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Design and deliver the Data & AI community and engagement strategy.

  • Build and strengthen a connected practitioner community across Data, Analytics, AI and Data Delivery disciplines.

  • Develop and evolve the community operating model, including communities of practice, town halls, showcases, forums and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

  • Create and deliver communications that engage practitioners, promote learning opportunities and showcase the impact of Data & AI across Westpac.

  • Establish and coordinate practitioner engagement programs, recognition initiatives and community activities that strengthen participation and professional identity.

  • Design surveys, feedback mechanisms and engagement approaches to understand practitioner needs and continuously improve the practitioner experience.

  • Measure community health, participation and engagement, using insights to shape future initiatives and priorities.

  • Partner with capability, adoption, workforce and leadership stakeholders to support practitioner growth, capability uplift and workforce initiatives.

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative and highly engaged community culture that encourages learning, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

  • Build strong relationships across Delivery Units, enabling alignment while respecting local ownership and autonomy.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you will have experience building and leading professional communities, practitioner networks, capability programs or engagement initiatives within Data, Analytics and/or AI environments. You will bring strong experience creating engagement strategies, communications and community programs that connect practitioners, increase participation and strengthen professional identity at enterprise scale. It's highly desirable if you have experience in supporting Data, Analytics or AI capability uplift initiatives and have experience planning and delivering internal practitioner events, showcases, forums, learning programs or community activities. Those who have worked with communities of practice, professional guilds or practitioner-led networks will be highly regarded.

Other key skills and experience required include:

  • Experience building and leading professional communities, capability networks or practitioner ecosystems within Data, Analytics and/or AI environments.

  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-wide engagement strategies and programs.

  • Strong internal communications and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into engaging and accessible content.

  • Experience designing and delivering practitioner engagement initiatives that drive participation, knowledge sharing and capability growth.

  • Experience developing surveys, feedback loops and engagement mechanisms, and using insights to continuously improve community outcomes.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across a broad range of stakeholder groups.

  • Experience working successfully in large, complex and federated organisations.

  • Strong organisational and program management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, communications and engagement channels.

  • A passion for building inclusive, connected and highly engaged practitioner communities.
